The Turkey Pro Sez:
“The
Pheasant Gut Wrench by Hunter 2 Hunter Equipment eliminates the
mess associated with gutting pheasants. No more
bloody hands or spoiled meat!
That’s what you’ll experience when using a Gut
Wrench to field dress your pheasants.
The innovative Gut Wrench
quickly and easily removes the entire entrails (guts) from pheasants without
the usual bloody mess on your hands.
While many hunters do not remove the guts from
birds until ready to completely dress them, it is best to do so as soon as
possible after the kill. Internal
organ wounds from shot shells tend to cause a very quick
deterioration of the quality of the birds’ meat, especially on mild or
warm days. Most of us like to
leave the entire cleaning job until after the hunt is over, but you should
try to gut the birds immediately if you want the best tasting
pheasants. You can do it quickly with a Pheasant
Gut Wrench while getting ready for your next pass through
pheasant habitat. An open body cavity allows good air circulation and fast cooling of
the meat, which greatly enhances the great taste of pheasant.
A properly field dressed bird can safely be left to cool in the
shade, or in a cooler, for many hours before skinning, picking, or
breasting out the meat.”
