Casey Starnes, Cleveland, TN,
celebrated his first year of turkey hunting with this 21 pounder ... his third bird
this year. His
story runs like this ...
"I took this big daddy on
Apirl 19, 2003 @2:15pm., after being there less than an hour. I was walking down the ridge
when I saw a big tom at the bottom drinking water about 60 - 65 yards away.
I sat down and hit my slate
call one time very softly. He didn't gobble but rasied his head and started walking toward
me.
I laid the call down and got my
gun up and ready .Then all of sudden I heard something scratching about 10 ft. away from
me behind a brush pile.
I assumed it was a hen and
positioned my gun in the middle of the two birds. Then the biggest GOBBLER I'd ever seen
walked out with his back to me. Then turned right to me, 13 yards. This all took
place within 6 minutes. This guy had a 11" beard with 1 1/8" spurs.
Now his 6 year old
daughter wants to be his hunting buddy. |
