Kevin
Lee, Salem, Virginia.
This Blue Ridge Mountain gobbler was bagged May 6, 2000. It sported a heavy 10 inch
beard and 7/8" spurs. A nice 3 year old trophy. Kevin reported that he
worked the bird for two straight mornings, but he wouldn't come because of hens.
The next morning, Kevin could tell by the way he was gobbling that he was looking for
company, so he set up 100 yards uphill, made a few calls and the tom marched right in.
Great hunt Kevin! Patience pays off again. |

Eric
Braaten, Electric City,
Washington. Eric's 1998 Merriams gobbler taken in Washington weighed 20 1/2
pounds, sported a 10" beard and had 1" spurs. Eric reports "I spent 2
hours trying to coax this gobbler to show himself. Went through my whole arsenal and
finally pulled out a single red diaphragm out of the bottom of my vest. Let out a
few yelps and cutts and he came in running, only to be stopped by my Delta Jake decoy and
a load of #5s. Great Day! Thanks for a great web site,

Eric
Braaten, Electric City,
Washington. Eric's Rio Grande gobbler taken in Washington weighed 16 pounds,
and had a 5" beard. Eric spent three hours looking for turkey sign. He
finally got an answer to a series of shock calls after exploring several drainages.
He peeked over the edge of the ridge and spotted 10 toms and 3 hens. He set up on a
bench above the birds and called very little. After a while he called once more and
the birds answered only 30 yards away, just under the edge of bench. The gobblers
came right to a Delta Hot Hen decoy. A good game plan of patience Eric! |
